Hello Friends and Shareholders,
♟️ KmikeyM News
Exciting times in the KmikeyM market as we saw a flash crash1 bring the price down to just $0.10. This used to happen a lot before we enforced top of book trading2. I thought the dip might have been a mistaken attempt at placing an offer, but we reached out to the impacted party and they were fine with it. 🤷♂️
The current price is $6.29 and there are only 28 more shares at that price. If you’re looking to sell the best offer is $5.75. You can review all the offers here.
🏴☠️ Bounty Offer Continues
The Title Bounty we offered in the last email has resulted in more than a hundred submissions and we’re still accepting offers3:
As a reminder, the terms of the bounty are:
If we use your submission I’ll give you 75 shares.
If we use some derivative of your idea I’ll give you 50 shares.
If your idea sparks the eventual title I’ll give you 25 shares.
🌴 Back in LA
I’m back in Los Angeles and riding along the LA River, taking tennis lessons, and sitting in front of my massive wall of monitors. While it is great to be home it feels odd to not be “making good time” on the road and I’m struggling a bit to get back into a rhythm.
📁 Current Projects
📕 Kevin and I are polishing our book proposal and we’re expecting to have it ready before the end of October. A bit more detail on that in the Insider Info section below.
📉 I was hoping to have been able to help launch a small web3/crypto project by now, but I didn’t make it a priority while traveling this summer. (I know I have a lot of crypto skeptics as shareholders, and I share some of that skepticism, but it’s a technology that is based on everything being a security, and that is too exciting and dumb of an idea to not play with!)
🗳️ There should be a vote coming soon about a job opportunity. I had a few interviews while I was in Canada but things have been moving slowly. I also have some thoughts about work that I want to write up and share around the idea of being an independent contractor vs. an employee.
💰 What’s Fun in Money?
I love buying a piece of something4.
🍷 I’ve been a fan of Vint.co since before they launched, and so far I’ve invested $870 in six different collections they have put together of wine and spirits. There is no marketplace so I just have to hold my position until they can sell the collection.
And I just got my first distribution! I made 9.53% on my $230 investment from May 2021 into the California Collection.
Vint.co just started a referral system, so if you’re interested in investing in fractional wine and spirit collections use this link and I get stuff.
❓ What’s the weirdest investment you’ve made? I have some pretty strange stocks because I let people pay their Shareholder Poker fees in stock via the Cash.app, but I also have a bunch of loans I’ve made via Honeycomb and some startups I’ve invested in on Republic and WeFunder (and I started an investment club with some friends).
🍿 Of course if you can buy a piece of something, you can also buy the whole thing. The current Twitter/Elon battle feels like watching a streaming mini-series. The most fun read is, as always, Matt Levine’s Money Stuff newsletter. (If you like KmikeyM you’ll love this email list.)
Profitably Yours,
-K. Mike Merrill
