🔟 ten quick updates and a shareholder vote
Hello Shareholders!
A bunch of stuff to share with you, so let’s make it a quick list of ten things… and then some shareholder asks at the bottom of the email.
📋 I’ve updated Agile Resolutions for March. Similar to previous months, but it’s already March 11th and not many things done yet... Part of that is because Kathryn and I have been heads down for a while.
⏲️ If you listen to 3 Minute Review you know that Kathryn has been pitching on a new project. We’re calling it Sweeps Week and made a bunch of rules about early bedtimes and healthy eating and morning yoga. I’m hoping it all pays off and we become incomprehensibly wealthy.
🛠️ We’re coming on Build Week Part 2 which will be March 18th to 22nd. We will incorporate Membership Shares and create some tiered levels of support (currently there is the paid Inside Info version of this email, but we’re folding that into the new levels).
🕴️ As part of the levels of support we’re also establishing a Board of Directors. As a cold hearted capitalist I’m allowing people to buy a position on the board, but perhaps there should be some other ways? Let’s vote on that…
💬 On the KmikeyM Slack we talked a while back about experimenting with letting other people ask the shareholders for advice. The shareholder community is full of some of the smartest people I know, many of whom are experts in their field, and additionally there is the whole wisdom-of-the-crowd phenomenon. 🍻 We had an intimate Guerrilla Happy Hour when shareholder Alex Mahan was in Los Angeles, and the next one is loosely planned for summer in Portland. This is a great opportunity to meet other shareholders!
⚓ Speaking of Alex, did you know I have his name tattooed on my arm? It’s part of a trust verification project called VTAC (note: the contact page at the bottom of that page is broken) that was started back in 2012 and I’ve been working on updating it. I’d love to relaunch with a new client, so if you’ve ever wanted your name, or something else, tattooed on my body now is a great time to reach out.
👃 New Vote Coming: While I was working on another project I met Chloe Coover who is the co-host of Nose Candy, a perfume podcast. We started talking about what capitalism might smell like and she agreed to be my guide in looking for a signature scent. Would love any thoughts, ideas, or essential reading I should do in preparation.
👯♀️ Community Updates!
Huge congrats to shareholder and poker player Jordan Dykstra who composed the soundtrack for 20 Days in Mariupol which just won an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature Film. (The doc is incredible, raw, and haunting and is available to watch free on Frontline.)
Shareholder Kriss Knapp (who designed our Shareholder Certificate) has a new print available for sale.
The band YACHT, shareholders and frequent collaborators, have a new song out called “Eve Babitz” along with some great companion art. Also, their video for “My Idea” was selected for competition at the SXSW Film Festival.
Shareholder Kirill has been building out Rebase, which combines prediction markets in a social app. It’s still early but it’s pretty fun. I have some invites if anyone wants to bet on weird stuff like if Rupert Murdoch will live to see his summer wedding (Rebase uses crypto under the hood, but is designed so you don’t have to care).
